How to get out of a labyrinth of suffering?
Miles decides to study at Culver Creek, where he meets his pranking accomplices, the Colonel, Takumi and especially Alaska.
One night Alaska leaves school overwhelmed and has a car accident that ends her life. Miles and the Colonel try to investigate about her leaving so mysteriously and about the car accident.
"I was awkward and she was gorgeous and I was hopelessly boring and she was endlessly fascinating. So I went back to my room and collapsed on the bottom bunk, thinking that if people were the rain, I was the drizzle and she was the hurricane."
